NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Superintendent Mitch Webster:
My name is Mitch Webster and as the new Superintendent of Grant County Schools I would like to welcome you to our county website and give you some general information about myself. I grew up in nearby Moorefield and graduated from Moorefield High School in 1979. I attended West Virginia University where I received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Education Administration. I began my teaching career in Grant County in 1984 as a classroom teacher at Dorcas Elementary School. During this span in my career I was also a teaching principal at Dorcas and the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Petersburg High School. I have many pleasant and memorable moments from both my teaching and coaching careers that I will cherish for a lifetime. In 2005 I became the principal at PES. It was an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience. We had a great staff, supportive PTO, and the kids at PES were super. As principal, I always kept my office door open and encouraged parents to stop by and see me anytime they had questions or concerns. I will continue to do the same as Superintendent. I am extremely excited to work with all stakeholders to provide the best education possible for all Grant County students. My wife Michele also works at PES as a Title 1 reading teacher. We have two children, Jon and Alisha. Jon is a math teacher at Petersburg High School. He is also the county math instructional coach and the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at PHS. He is married to Danielle Webster who a speech therapist for Grant County Schools. Alisha is a Speech Therapist in the Hardy County School System. She is married to Graham Porter who teaches science at PHS. I also have four grandchildren. Carson and Jackson Webster and Abby and Grant Porter. They are the joy of my life. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences in the Grant County School System to this point. I look forward to my new role with great enthusiasm. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mitch Webster
