PRINCIPAL’S MAY NEWSLETTER:

Dear Parents,

As this school year quickly winds down there are several items that I want to discuss with you.

First, I want to thank each of you for the patience you have displayed as we have endured this very extraordinary school year. Due to COVID-19, we have experienced quarantines, virtual learning, schedule changes, and a substitute teacher shortage. There have been other hurdles as well and I am so proud of how our students have handled all of the adversity. It is certainly my hope that next year things, for the most part, will be back to normal.

Next, I want to mention that our students in grades 3 through 6 will be taking the statewide GSA assessment over the next several weeks. I will send out an announcement on school messenger every Sunday evening to those students scheduled to test for that particular upcoming week. Just a reminder that students perform their best when getting a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each day they test. With everything that has happened in regards to the pandemic this year, we can only ask that our students work hard and try their very best.

Also, I want to let you know that there will not be a lunch menu sent home for the remainder of the year. I will announce at the end of each day during evening announcements what will be for lunch the following day.

Finally, as many of you already know, I will be assuming the role of Superintendent of Schools on July 1st. This will bring an end to sixteen wonderful years in which I served as PES principal. Although I look forward to my new role, I know I will miss the students and staff members immensely. It has been an unbelievable honor to have been your child’s principal and PES will always hold a special place in my heart.

In closing, let me remind you to look over the calendar of events and contact the school if you have any questions. As always, feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have. In the meantime, enjoy the spring weather and all of the fun activities that go along with it! Thanks.
